The Work is Underway

The Equip Institute has been training global pastors, church leaders, and missionaries since 2024.

How We Train |

In a Ministry Context

We believe ministry leaders are best trained in the context of their actual ministry. Rather than removing individuals from their church, community, mission context, or family to pursue theological education elsewhere, we equip leaders where they already serve. This in-context approach allows learning, mentoring, and ministry practice to occur simultaneously, fostering immediate integration between formation and vocation. The result is a model of theological education that is both deeply formative and highly affordable, removing unnecessary barriers while strengthening long-term faithfulness and effectiveness in ministry.

How We Train |

A Journey of Discipleship

We follow the Kairos University model of training people for ministry across three critical levels: Content (biblical and theological training), Character (spiritual formation and accountability), and Craft (vocational training). A dedicated mentor oversees each area; together, these mentors form an actively engaged team that provides holistic discipleship throughout the training process.

How We Train |

Trusted Global Partners

The Equip Institute advances its mission by partnering with trusted leaders and established networks around the world. Through these strategic local partnerships, we ensure that the right people are being trained and that their formation is both biblically faithful and thoughtfully attentive to each unique sociocultural context. These partnerships also provide ongoing accountability, long-term sustainability, and reproducibility.

How We Train |

Formal & Non-Formal

In higher theological education, “formal” training refers to training that culminates in a degree, while “non-formal” training does not. At the Equip Institute, we intentionally operate in both modes. Regardless of format, all training takes place within a leader’s active ministry context and is guided by a mentor team through a holistic journey of discipleship. While much of our training is non-formal, the Equip Institute is an official Contextualization Partner of Kairos University, and when appropriate, we train leaders through ATS-accredited Kairos University degree programs (B.A., M.A., M.Div., D.Min., and Ph.D.), at minimal cost.

Formal & Non-Formal

Our training is built on Kairos University’s model, intentionally weaving Content (biblical and theological depth), Character (spiritual formation and accountability), and Craft (vocational skill and practice) through a dedicated mentor team that actively disciples each leader throughout the training process. Importantly, training takes place within the ministry contexts where leaders already serve, allowing learning, mentoring, and practice to happen simultaneously. Whether pursued through a non-formal mode or a formal mode (accredited degree program), the training philosophy remains the same. When undertaken alongside trusted global partners, we are able to equip the right leaders in the right places through a faithful journey of discipleship for long-term, reproducible ministry impact.
